Our Story

Welcome to Little Pottimus — a brand created from a lifelong love of drawing, storytelling, and believing in second chances.

My name is Joanne, though most people call me Jo. I'm a mum to two grown-up children and the creator behind this little world of characters and prints. Creativity has always been part of who I am. I studied textile design at art college and, although life took me in different directions, my love for drawing never left me.

 

 

Little Pottimus began many years ago with a simple sketch of a hippopotamus for a greetings card.

He was named Pottimus and, although he never made it to print, he stayed with me. That small character became the heart of a children's story I later wrote and illustrated, "What a Silly Pottimus," inspired by encouragement from my mum, who believed deeply in my passion.

Over the years, I've worked with wonderful companies in the baby and children's industry, designed characters for products, and even created my own hand-printed muslin designs. Each step helped build confidence, even when projects didn't quite go as planned. Life brought its share of challenges too, and there were times when creativity had to take a back seat—but it never disappeared.

 

Eventually, I found myself back where it all began—at the kitchen table with pencils and watercolours. From there, Little Pottimus slowly grew into the brand I had always dreamed of. A place where I could design freely, create sweet characters, and build coordinating prints for babies and children.

Every design starts by hand, drawn in pencil and painted in watercolour using soft shades and a carefully chosen colour palette. I love delicate details, gentle textures, and playful simplicity.
